    Welcome to the History of Western Civilization 102!

    This course covers European history from the seventeenth to the twentieth century.  It encompasses a wide range of topics in political, social, economic and cultural history.   Major topics include the Scientific Revolution, the Enlightenment, the French Revolution and the Napoleonic era, the impact of liberalism, nationalism and socialism, the Industrial Revolution, imperialism and colonial conflicts of the nineteenth century, Russian and Chinese revolutions, World Wars I and II, the Cold War and its aftermath, and the relationship of the United States to the rest of the world.
