Search Strategies

1. Define your topic: Vaccines have been used to wipe out major diseases such as polio and smallpox. In modern times, they are given to children to prevent many illnesses. However, as with any medicine, there are risks associated with them . One of the controversies is whether vaccines should be required for public health prevention or whether the decision should be left up to the individual to decide. Another controversy surrounds the possible health risks - do the benefits outweigh the risks?
2. Search for information on the Library web page
→Search using key terms and synonyms to find an overview. Good places to start:  Online Catalog or GALE Opposing Viewpoints Database
