Course Materials

Instructors, this Libguide houses [helpful] materials and information to assist you in teaching EN 004.  Any questions or comments, please feel free to contact me, Nina Alsbrook-Jackson at or ext. 6511.

Hello and welcome, both instructors and students!

EN 004 Writing Skills II is designed to assist students in writing a well developed five paragraph essay, applying the various rhetorical modes, (i.e. narrative, compare/contrast and argument) and using the writing process.  Emphasis is placed on strengthening the students' ability to find and correct their own errors, and to become fluent and competent in Standard English.  Research skills are introduced.

To help everyone reach and teach these goals, this libguide is filled with helpful tips, extra information and ideas and supplementary materials.  Enjoy!

NEW Information & Major Changes!

This is a note for all EN 004 instructors to please read the syllabus carefully - there are MAJOR changes in place.  The Developmental Studies Committee has removed the Holistic Grading process and replaced it with the instructors grading their own Final Exams.  Now, scheduled sessions during Final Exam week are used to administer the exam and conference with the student on that last day to review their Final Exam and the students performance in the class as a whole. On the last day of the semester, after student conferences are completed, ALL Final Exams must be dropped off in A204, with Dean Sweet, when yellow cards/final grades are presented.
