The PCCC Writing Center

The primary function of the Writing Center is to support the Writing Intensive courses, and students enrolled in those courses are encouraged to come for help with their writing.  We help students at all stages of the writing process, whether it is brainstorming a topic, structuring an essay, or editing and revising.  Tutoring is available on both an appointment and a limited walk-in basis.

The Writing Center offers workshops and training sessions related to Writing Intensive courses for full classes, small groups, and instructors.  It also offers support to students for their Writing Intensive courses in the forms of face-to-face and small group tutoring/instruction and eTutoring, as well as support and help with eTutoring, ePortfolio, information literacy, and more.  Support for ePortfolio, LibGuides, Blackboard, and and other services related to the Writing Intensive courses are available to instructors as well.

The center tutors also work with students preparing to take the CWE in both one-on-one and group sessions.  Students who have never taken the exam before are encouraged to come to the center for information and practice.  Students who have failed the exam come to the center to review their failed exam and note their mistakes as well as to practice to take the exam again.

The center is located within the Learning Resource Center and includes space for one-on-one conferencing and small group instruction. The center has computers and technology to facilitate both face-to-face and online tutoring.  Writing Center tutors conduct both one-one-one and small group tutorials for writing intensive and CWE students.  In addition, the Writing Center holds weekly writing workshops that are open to the entire student body.
